Make Your Own Crib Sheets

I love sewing for my kids and babies.  The unfortunate thing is my baby isn't really a baby anymore :(  I've also learned that there arent as many things you can sew for a boy as there is for a girl.

I've been looking for set of bright orange sheets for Cams room and could never find any that I loved.  That's when it occurred to me that I could sew my own pretty easily.  I found THIS tutorial from Dana Made It and made just a few minor adjustments.

If your looking for an easy project that you can do pretty quickly, you love this one!

So here's the deets:

First you'll need
  • 2 yards of fabric
  • 80 inches of 1/4 elastic
Cut your fabric so it measures 44x67 inches.  From here fold your fabric into fourths and cut an 8X8 square out of your fabric.

So when you open it, it looks like this.

From here, pin the corners right side together and sew.

Fold and iron the ends under.  This is where your elastic will go.  I didn't measure or anything, I kind of just guestimated all the way around.

Sew around the casing.  Make sure you leave an opening to insert the elastic!  Now it's time for the elastic.  Place a safety pin on your elastic to help you pull it all the way through.  Once your done, sew the elastic together and sew your casing together.  And Viola!  Done!

See how cute this is?!?!  Here's a peak around Campbell's room.  Dave's mom made this canvas.  She used Dave's old football media guides to make the background.  I love how talented she is!

I did an ABC wall on one side.  It was kind of a lot of work but it turned out so cute!

Love this old window!

Here's one more look at the sheets

This is what it looked like 2 seconds after I took the pics.

So now go on and make your own crib sheets!

  1. Hi from Hump Day Happenings! If I'd had a sewing machine before my first was born, I would have made his sheets. We had to get a mini crib for him and sheets for a mattress that size were NOT an easy thing to find :)
